Ganden Monastery, 60kms east
to Lhasa, was first built in 1409, the 7th year during
the reign of Emperor Yong Le of the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
At least 10 building have been restored. Barley sprawl
across the valley floor, which looks splendid dotted with
small villages. It takes 4 days to walk from the Ganden
to the Samye. This is one of the finest soft treks in
central Tibet
