This fly-in/fly-out
tour of the heart of Tibet follows a circular route from
Tsetang to Lhasa, exploring the Yarlung Tsangpo Valley,
cradle of the Tibetan civilization. We began our journey
by exploring the Yarlung Tsangpo Valley with a ferry ride
across the Tsanggpo River to visit Samye, the oldest monastery
belonging to the Red Hat School. Then, on to Yongbulakhang,
the first castle build for a Tibetan King overlooking
a fertile agriculture valley and tombs of the Tibetan
kings, from the seventh centuary; and then proceeding
on the southern route via the Yamdroktso, the turquoise
lake, to Gyangtse and Shigatse. From Shigatse we take
the northern route through the scenic, rugged countryside
of normads, culminating our journey in Lhasa.
