SOME HELPFUL INFORMATION

  Visa Information
   A visitor can stay in Tibet with a passport valid for at least 6 months after the departure date. As for visa for Tibet, it should be secured through the authorities in Lhasa well in advance. Group visitors who are more than 5 people should apply for visas in the Chinese embassy. Usually 10 days is required to process the visa by the Chinese Embassy. Traveling in Tibet requests tour permissions and for visitors to the restricted areas, special permits are requested. For further information please contact us for further information.

Acute Mountain Sickness
  Visitor need not to worry about the altitude in Tibet, but should be aware that it does affect some people's performance. Traveling in Tibet involves high altitude and can be strenuous. Clients with heart and lung problems or blood diseases should consult their doctor before booking the trip. Very often the cases of altitude sickness have been reported. Simple headache, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorders can happen before the acclimatization. Advised, drink approx. 03 Liters of water per day, don't strain your self, Move slowly, breath deeply and take regular rests. For strenuous treks, one should better bring own personal kits and a Gammon bag. No doubt, our staffs are always ready to give you a hand.

Clothing

  Boots must be comfortable and they must support the ankle. It is essential to break in new boots well in advance of visitor's trek. The shoe should be hiking not climbing boots. A rain and wind proof is jacket is necessary for high altitude and lengthy trek. A thick pullover is essential for early morning and evening. Tracksuit is highly recommended. Woolen shits and T-shirts are also recommended.

Food & Drinks
Tibet has only a handful of towns, and Tibetan cuisine is not exactly the most varied in the world. It is handy to carry anything that can be brewed with hot water. Instant coffee, drinking chocolate, tea (bags), soup cubes. Other food items worth considering are instant noodles, nuts and raisins, chocolate, dry foods and biscuits.

Airport , Airport Tax and Ticket Reconfirmation
Lhasa Gonggar Airport is approx. 96 Kms away for Lhasa. Your guide will reconfirm the air ticket upon payment of RMB 30, which is reconfirmation fee charged by china Southwest Airlines.

Customs
There is no prohibition on still and video cameras, tape recorders or radios as long as they are for personal use or if commercial use should be registered with a custom official. Printed matters considered unsuitable by the Chinese government are prohibited. Customs regulations forbid the export of art objects created prior to 1959 or souvenirs in amounts deemed to be excessive.

Currency
Renmnbi, The people's money used by millions of Chinese everyday, circulates is notes of 1, 2, 5, 10 and 50 Yuan; 1, 2 and 5 jiao; 1, 2, and 5 fen. There are also coins for 1, 2 and 5 fen. With the Chinese currency, Runminbi, one Yuan is divided in 10 Jiao; into 10 fen.
